| The Rapid City area affords endless outdoor recreation. The Black Hills are popular for biking and pleasure riding; trails range from wide shouldered highways to steep grades & long climbs. Rockhounding is allowed in the foothills and sandstone cliffs of the Kadoka, Interior, and Fairburn rockbeds, where collectors may find the state's official gem, the Fairburn agate. Fervent fishermen will delight in the 14 mountain lakes and 300 miles of meandering streams, offering trout, bass, northern pike, and other panfish. The best fishing waters are located at Deerfield Reservoir and Pactola Reservoir, as well as Stockade Lake and Spearfish Creek. Other activities in the area include horseback riding, mountain climbing, golfing, photography and don't forget, Yellowstone Park is nearby!
